In July of 2012, my wife and I scrambled together cash and loans from friends and family, and bought a coffee shop & used bookstore in Golden, Colorado off a craigslist deal. A few weeks later we re-opened as Bean Fosters! The business name came from the idea of caring for and promoting the growth of both coffee and community. (I don't know. 'Coffee-people fosterers' or something. We were younger then. You should see the old logo.) You’ve supported our small business for 13 years now – so thank you! The shops have been a source of lots of joy for us, and hopefully for you too.

We’ve expanded quite a bit from that first coffee shop & used bookstore in Golden. We now have a much bigger staff, a second coffee shop location in Littleton, and a coffee roasting warehouse in Englewood. In the last year-and-a-half, we re-branded the Bean Fosters Roastery to Vellichor Coffee Roasters to facilitate growth of our online shipping and business-to-business sales. The coffee roasting - rather than supplying our shops, like baking on-site – had become an entirely separate business, and I had unwittingly become a multi-business owner.

Vellichor Coffee Roasters produces craft coffee for pairing with written words, as inspired by our used book filled coffee shops. The word ‘vellichor’ [pronounced 'vel-ih-core'] essentially means ‘the feeling of being in a used bookstore’.  We roast coffee for book-ish-ness. It pairs with other things too, but books and coffee are a thing, and we’re here for it. And so are our customers! We’ve found great success, especially in national online shipping sales, since rebranding the roastery, so thanks again for supporting our livelihoods.

Now. The time has come. Bean Fosters had a great 13 year run. We’re excited to unite all our coffee operations under one name. We are rebranding from Bean Fosters to Vellichor Coffee Roasters in July 2025! Same ownership. Same spaces. Same teams. (Our fantastic store managers have both been in place for over two years; our people are truly the best.) The only change is that the shops now operate under the names Vellichor Coffee Roasters just as our roastery does. We’re excited to continue to host you, in this next step of our businesses!
